REVISED PROGRAMME SCHEDULE TIMES

Saturday

• Doors Open at 7:45 am. Events commence at 8:45 am & conclude at 11:02 pm.

Sunday

• Doors Open at 7:50 am. Events commence at 8:50 am & conclude at 11:13 pm.

SYLLABUS ALTERATIONS

Competitors should note the following syllabus alterations:

• Masters I & Master II Level 1 STD & NV events will be run separately.
• Masters II Level 3 LA event has been combined with the Masters II Level 4 LA event. However the Level 3 competitors will only be required to dance their nominated 3 dances and will be judged separately.
• Changes in dances in the preliminary rounds are tabulated below.      

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS

Presentation of Results and Awards will be held at the following times:

Saturday: 6:33pm, 9:16pm, 11:02pm Final presentations        

Sunday: 6:10pm, 9:20pm Juvenile 6 Dance & Junior 8 Dance, 10:16pm, 11:13pm Final presentations         

ENTRY ALTERATIONS (Refer to statements on Entry Acknowledgment Form)

It is absolutely imperative that alterations to entries as indicated on the Entry Acknowledgment Form be received by post or by Fax. on (02) 9626 1900 NOT LATER THAN TUESDAY 23 JUNE. The tightly packed schedule of events will not allow inclusion of possible extra rounds due to entry changes not notified, consequently competitors whose names do not appear on the Marshalls Events List for a specific event will not be permitted to compete in those events.  Changes to entries will not be accepted after the 23 JUNE 2009.  Entry Acknowledgement forms were posted with tickets on 2 June 2009.

TICKETS

Tickets purchased through the Organisers were mailed out on 2 June.  Please allow 5 business days for the tickets to arrive.  The last day for claims for lost/undelivered tickets is 15 June.  No claims will be accepted after this date.  Tickets can no longer  be purchased through the Organisers.

MARSHALLING

For your information we enclose the First Round Times for all events. Couples are not permitted to take the floor without first reporting to the Marshalls. Disqualification may apply if this procedure is not followed.  The tightly packed nature of the programme schedule dictates "that delays for any reason, cannot and will not be entertained".  The onus rests with competitors to be in the marshalling areas well prior to the scheduled time of the particular event.

REGISTRATION CARDS

At all DanceSport events conducted within NSW and the ACT, DanceSport Australia (NSW Branch) operates a policy of COLLECTING ALL REGISTRATION CARDS AT THE TIME OF ISSUING NUMBERS.  Your co-operation with this procedure will be much appreciated.

Australian competitors: please present your DSA registration cards.

Overseas Competitors:

• Amateurs: please present your registration cards with an IDSF member association.
• Professionals: please present your registration cards with an IDSF or WDC member association.

All registration cards will be ready for return at the conclusion of the programme with appropriate  elevation and amendments recorded.

ENTRANCE TO THE ARENA

Entrance to the complex is through the Sports Visitor Centre and up the main stairs. Entry to the Arena will be through a single door - disregard any door numbers printed on the tickets.

NUMBERS TABLE

The Numbers Table will be located just inside the Arena - A map giving the location of Cloak Room, Change Rooms, Marshalling & Practice Area, Recall number posting location will be displayed near the Numbers Table.

SHOES

Competitors must note that all footwear will be inspected prior to dancing throughout the programme to comply with conditions set by the AIS. It is strongly recommended that ladies in particular use heel caps. If heel caps cannot be used, ensure that shoes are in good condition.  Liquid or solid substances are not to be applied to soles of shoes - competitors may be disqualified if found doing so. The AIS Arena has a high quality cushioned timber floor that could be damaged by unsatisfactory dance shoes. The Organisers are taking all measures necessary to ensure that the floor is not damaged in any way.

Competitors are warned that unsatisfactory footwear will lead to disqualification.   The decision as to a competitor's shoe condition will be made by the  Floor Marshalls and not the competitor.

CLOAK ROOM

A complimentary Cloak Room facility will be available for competitors and officials. Bags and items of clothing should not be left elsewhere. The Cloak Room is located between the main ladies and gentlemen's change room at the dance floor level. Leaving personal items in the change rooms or in the seating areas is at your own risk.

CHANGE ROOMS

Spacious Change Rooms & Toilets are provided separately for Professional Competitors, Amateur Competitors & Officials. All Change Rooms & Toilets are located at the dance floor level along a corridor to the left of the dance floor (when facing the stage) on either side of the Cloak Room. 

Please note: AIS & Government regulations stipulate that no smoking is allowed within the AIS Arena including the change rooms.  Anyone found in breach of these regulations may be prosecuted.

MARSHALLING AREA & PRACTICE AREA

The Marshalling Area and the Practice Area are located directly behind the stage.

RECALL INFORMATION

The Recall Information will be displayed just outside the Practice Area behind the stage. 

CATERING FACILITIES

Catering facilities (hot meals, snacks and drinks) will be available at the venue.

LATIN AMERICAN WORKSHOP BY MICHAEL MALITOWSKI & JOANNA LEUNIS

ENTRY:   Only on production of Ticket or purchase of ticket at door

Limited tickets for the Workshop are available for purchase at the door subject to availability (door sales are cash only).  

PRACTICE EVENING

COST:    FREE

FORMAT: Latin American, Standard, New Vogue

VENUE:  Italo-Australian Club, 78 Franklin Street, Forrest, Canberra

            (10 minutes from City - close to Parliament House)

Advance Sales of the Souvenir Programme will be available at the Practice Evening.

AFTER PARTY

DATE:    Sunday 28 June

TIME:    At the conclusion of the NCDC Sunday programme

COST:    FREE

VENUE:  Bobby McGee's, Rydges Lakeside Canberra, London Circuit, Canberra City

Those under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

HOW TO GET TO THE AIA ARENA & PARKING

The AIS Arena is located in the Belconnen area of North Canberra in the suburb of Bruce. Travel time to the AIS Arena from the city centre by car is approximately 10 minutes. Allow another 5 minutes for parking.

DIRECTIONS:

• Travel along Belconnen Way or Ginninderra Drive.
• Turn into Haydon Drive.
• Turn into Battye Street (signposted as Australian Institute of Sport).
• Turn left into Leverrier Street.

Entrance to the AIS Arena is through the  Sports Visitor Centre up the main stairway.  Ample parking is available opposite the venue (a small fee may apply). Please inform the Parking Attendant that you are attending the DanceSport Championships.

WEATHER IN CANBERRA

The NCDC will be held in Winter in Canberra.  Although the days in Canberra during Winter are usually very sunny, the temperature is cold.  The average  daytime temperature reaches 12 degrees celsius with the nights going down to 0 degrees celsius.

The main arena for the NCDC is heated to a comfortable temperature.

We recommend you dress warmly for your visit to Canberra.
