Entries

The closing date for the 2010 NCDC is 30 April 2010.  The NCDC On-line entry facility is now available.  

 

Australian Competitors 

You must be registered with DanceSport Australia and must present your DanceSport Australia registration card to obtain your competitor number at the event. 

 

Overseas Competitors

Amateurs - you must be registered with your country's organisation affiliated with the IDSF. 

Professionals - you must be registered with your country's organisation affiliated with the IDSF or WDC.

All overseas competitors must present their registration card from their member organisation to register at the event.

 

Overseas couples requiring a letter of invitation from the organisers for Australian Visa Application purposes, please send your full names, address(es) and the country of issue of your passports with your request to David.

First Round Times

This section will be updated in late May 2010 with first round times for all events and important information for competitors.  The scheduled commencement time is 9am on both days and the conclusion is scheduled for 11pm.  These times will be updated after the processing of entries.

 

1. Conditions of Entry

The entry requirements for competing are:

  • The purchase of admission tickets on the day(s) you are competing (and late lodgement fee of $33 per couple if entry is sent after 7 May) using the Official Ticket Order Form sent together with a completed Competitor Entry Form to the Organisers (or completed on-line).
  • Australian competitors are required to be registered with DanceSport Australia (DSA).
  • Overseas Amateur competitors are required to be registered with the IDSF member body (or appropriate registration authority) of their respective country.
  • Overseas Professional competitors are required to be registered with the WDC or IDSF member body (or appropriate registration authority) of their respective country.
  • Entry and admission fees for competitors must accompany lodgement of all entries.

Overseas competitors may contact the Penny De Kauwe School of Dancing Canberra (email: penny_dekauwe@bigpond.com) to clarify any entry requirements and/or to obtain a letter of invitation to compete to facilitate any visa applications.

 

Failure to appear (without prior notification to the Championship Administrative Director) in an event, for which an entry has been lodged and accepted, will render the couple liable to disqualification from all other events on this occasion.

 

2. Closing Date for Entries

The closing date for entries is 30 April 2010. Entries received after 7 May will incur a late entry fee of $33 per couple.

 

Late entries will be accepted until 1 June 2010.  Entries received after 1 June 2010 may not be accepted.

 

3. Entry Confirmation

Entry confirmation will be forwarded with tickets, first round times and competitor information in early June 2010. Competitor numbers will be published on the NCDC Website at the end of May 2010.  Competitors must ensure that their entry confirmation is correct and reflects their original entry.  Competitors will not be permitted to take the floor if not entered in an event.

 

4.Entry Changes

Closing date for advice of Levels and/or Entry alterations is 20 June 2010.

  

5. Proposed Time Schedule

Any revisions to the proposed time schedule plus 1st round time information for all events will be published on the NCDC website, www.ncdccanberra.com.au, and will be included with entry confirmations mailed out in early June 2010.

 

6. Entry Limitations

Age Divisions for these Championships are defined as:-

Sub-Juvenile : Both partners Under 11 Years

Juvenile : Both partners Under 13 Years

Junior : Older partner Over 13 Years & Under 16 Years and, Younger partner Under 16 Years

Youth : Older partner over 16 Years & Under 19 Years and, Younger partner  Over 12 Years

Adult : Both partners Over 16 Years

Masters I : Both partners Over 35 Years

Masters II : Both partners Over 50 Years

 

Consult DSA Rules (www.dancesport.org.au) or contact the FATD Head Office for further details on age divisions.

 

Couples are restricted to Level in accordance with the Syllabus of Events.

 

Couples eligible to compete in the Sub-Juvenile events may also compete in the Juvenile Age Category.

 

Couples eligible to dance in Masters events, have a choice of dancing either in the Masters events or in the Adult events. Couples are not permitted to enter a combination of both.

 

Couples eligible and choosing to dance in the Masters events must select to dance in either the Masters I events or the Masters II events. Couples are not permitted to enter a combination of both age categories except for the combined events for Level 1 Masters I and Masters II competitors. 

 

Couples eligible to compete in the Youth Age Category may also compete in the Adult Age Category subject to age eligibility.

 

The Administrative Director of the Championships (on behalf of the FATD) reserves the right to make any amendments to the Syllabus of Events and/or the Programme Schedule, if and when found necessary, and delete from the Syllabus of Events, any item which it is considered attracts insufficient entries.

 

7. Dress Restrictions

Dress restrictions as set by DanceSport Australia rules apply. Complete details are available on the DSA website, www.dancesport.org.au

 

8. Restricted Syllabi

Standard and Latin American events listed for all Juvenile events & Junior/Adult/MastersI/MastersII Level 1 - are all subject to the DSA Restricted Syllabus. For full details refer to the DSA website, www.dancesport.org.au or contact the FATD Head Office.

 

9. Shoes & Floor Damage

The AIS Arena has a high quality cushioned timber floor that could be damaged by unsatisfactory dance shoes.   The shoes of all competitors will be checked by the floor marshalls in advance to couples taking the floor to ensure that shoes are in good condition. It is strongly recommended that ladies use heel caps. Liquid or solid substances are not to be applied to soles of shoes - competitors will be disqualified if found doing so.

 

Competitors will be disqualified if their shoes are found to be unsatisfactory. The decision as to a competitor's shoe condition will be made by the Marshalls and not the competitor.

  

10. Marshalling/Recall Information

Couples are not permitted to take the floor without first reporting to the Marshalls.  Disqualification may apply if this procedure is not followed.

 

Delays for any reason, cannot and will not be entertained.  The onus rests with competitors to be in the marshalling area, where programming permits, at least 3 events prior to their event.

 

Recall Information will be displayed just outside the Practice Area behind the stage.

  

11. General Information

The "2010 FATD National Capital DanceSport Championships" is a Championship event of NATIONAL status registered with DanceSport Australia and conducted in accordance with their Rules and Regulations.

 

All persons attending this event, whether spectators or as competitors/officials or guests of the Organiser, shall be bound by the rules of this event and by attending/participating automatically become obliged to adhere to them.

 

Full catering facilities will be available throughout the event.

 

Smoking within the AIS Arena is expressly prohibited.

 

A complimentary cloak room service for competitors will operate during these Championships. All personal belongings should be kept in the Cloak Room. No clothes or bags are to be kept in any other area of the arena including the reserved seating areas and change rooms.

 

The FATD and/or the Championship Administrative Director and the AIS (and their staff/officials) accept no responsibility for lost or stolen items stored in the Cloak Room or other areas of the AIS Arena and neither can they be held liable for injury sustained by persons attending this event. Everyone attending does so at his or her own risk.

 

12. Admission/Tickets

Admission is by ticket only. All seating is tiered with unrestricted viewing. All seating is reserved for all sessions on both days.

  

Ticket prices - Refer to the Ticket Order Form or on-line.  These prices include a booking fee payable to Ticketek. A handling fee of $5 per Ticket Order Form applies to tickets ordered through the Organisers.

 

Allocation of seating will be determined exclusively by the appointed sub-committee of the FATD. Complimentary tickets are strictly limited to VIP Guests, Championship Officials and Adjudicators' Spouse/Partner.

 

Tickets will be available for sale using the ticket order form or on-line until 23 May 2010.  From 24 May 2010, tickets will only be available through Ticketek outlets (phone 132 749 or www.ticketek.com.au) or at the venue box office on the days of the event (a Ticketek surcharge will apply for tickets sold at the venue box office).

 

13. Conditions of Ticket Sales

Tickets purchased through the Organisers are subject to the following conditions:

  • Tickets will be posted in early June 2010.
  • All tickets are absolutely non-refundable.
  • The FATD will not accept any responsibility for tickets not received in the post and not reported to the FATD by 14 June 2010 (overseas orders by 19 June 2010). No replacement tickets or refunds will be issued for these tickets.

  

14. Use of Movie/Video Cameras

Hand held Movie/Video Cameras, including digital cameras and all other electronic devices with a video facility, may be used during these Championships subject to the purchase of an Official Licence Card under the following conditions:

  • The Licence Card must be attached to the camera at all times - under no circumstances will the use of tripod or other "fixed" camera equipment be permitted.
  • Hand held cameras may only be used by the official card holder whilst in their reserved seating. Additionally the use of Movie/Video equipment is restricted strictly to the (upper) concourse area.The use of any type of recording device during the NCDC Dance Spectacular on both evenings is strictly prohibited.
  • Licence Cards can be ordered using the Ticket Order Form or on-line. Licences purchased on the days of the Championships will be $5 per day more than if purchased in advance.
