Event Information
With the national popularity of the current dance shows on television there is no doubt that the 2010 National Capital DanceSport Championships, to be held at the AIS Arena on Saturday 26 June and Sunday 27 June, will be an event not to be missed.
In 2010, the NCDc will feature one of the World's best Latin American couples in cabaret - Riccardo & Yulia from the USA...
The event provides the public an opportunity to enjoy DanceSport at its best - it is much more exciting, athletic and glamorous than on TV! You will also see a number of familiar faces from television at the Championships.
Spectators will enjoy competitors performing the seductive Rumba, often referred to as the dance of love as well as the contrasting Paso Doble' which is a representation of the Spanish bull fight. The popular Cha Cha Cha from Cuba and the boogie woogie beat of the jive will most certainly be crowd favourites. For those who appreciate the elegance and style of Ballroom, the Waltz and Foxtrot will impress you with the skill and beauty portrayed by these dances. Spectators will be dazzled by the stunning Latin American costumes and the elegance and style associated with the flamboyant Ballroom gowns. Music for the Championships will feature the latest dance releases plus many of the old favourites.
The National Capital DanceSport Championships is jointly organised and promoted by the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing (Australia) Ltd. (FATD) and the Penny De Kauwe School of Dancing Canberra.
The National Capital DanceSport Championships (NCDC) is a National Championship event registered with the governing body of DanceSport in Australia. The NCDC, inaugurated in 1993, is now firmly established as the second largest event of its kind held annually in Australia. The event is renowned for its excellent organisation, meticulous attention to detail and most importantly it makes every effort to satisfy the needs of competitors, officials and spectators. The event has gained a reputation as one of the best organised DanceSport Championships in Australia.
